Womens Health/Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy
CHICAGO, IL
What is the pelvic floor? And no, it’s not just all about the “kegel.” It’s a group of important muscles that actually has multiple important jobs within our body. Its functions include organ support, maintaining continence, sexual health, muscular stability for the entire body and also helps the body to pump fluid from veins in legs to prevent fluid retention. That’s a lot of jobs for an area that often doesn’t get enough attention.
We have a team of highly dedicated and compassionate practitioners who focus on pelvic floor issues, along with pregnancy and postpartum issues. We understand this can be a sensitive area to treat, and we can keep your more at ease by treating you in the comfort of your own home. We emphasize a very supportive relationship, with open communication between you and your therapist. Our mission is to get you back to enjoying your life the way you want.
Jessica Brelje graduated from the University of St. Augustine (Florida) with a Masters in Physical Therapy. She has over 15 years of honing her skills as a pelvic floor, orthopedic and manual Physical Therapist. She has a passion for finding the root of her patient’s pain and source of physical impairments. Jessica's approach to therapy is to remove the soft tissue and joint restrictions and to retrain the full body, using stability with motion and functional activity to get people back to their lives, their passions.
Jessica is a Herman and Wallace trained pelvic floor specialist, working with both men and women experiencing pelvic floor or pre/post natal issues such as diastasis recti. Her training applies to individual treatment programs for urinary incontinence or the musculoskeletal components of urogynecologic pain syndromes such as chronic pelvic pain (CPP), vulvar pain, and interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome (IC/PBS).
Personally, Jessica is an avid runner and gym enthusiast. She is always training for her next marathon, or series of marathons.
Jessica continues to seek out professional education courses that will help deepen her knowledge of patient treatment, including soft tissue techniques and dry needling. In 2016, Jessica received her yoga teacher training certificate, and uses it to focus on therapeutic applications of yoga primarily for those with joint replacements, joint pains and/or surgery.
